REGISTER Here for BAADER Basic Technician and BAADER Advanced Technician Classes


TWO 5-day, 40-hour Baader Technician classes will be offered in Alaska in April, 2026 (post A-season) at the Kodiak Seafood and Marine Science Center, instructed by Baader company technicians. Classes will focus on the BAADER 212 full processing machine (and encompassing the BAADER 153 and 182 machines) and the BAADER 52 skinning machine (including the BAADER 51). 

two options ARE available : Basic and Advanced. 
 
April 20-24, 2026
Basic Baader Technician class (Prerequisite is 1-2 years of general mechanic experience).  Topics to be covered include: Sharpening knives, Basic assembly, Standard settings, Wear and tear,  Reading electrical schematics, skinner training (BAADER 052), Running fish over the machine.
A final exam, passed, will result in a BAADER certificate.
Class size limited to 14.  Class Fee is $4,900 per person. 


April 27-May 1, 2026
Advanced Baader Technician Class (Prerequisites:  (Prerequisites: basic training class or 3 years relevant experience with the machines)  Topics to be covered include:Refresh basic machine knowledge, Electrical fault finding/analysis, Parameters, Production adjustments, Running fish over the machine.
A final exam, passed, will result in a BAADER certificate.
Class size is limited to 10.
 Class Fee is $4,900 per person.
 
Instructors: Bob Lehman and James Romo.
Bob has worked on Baader machinery for over 35 years and as a Lead Baader Technician since 2009. In 2011 he advanced to Baader Manager, overseeing operations in Akutan, Star of Kodiak, Sand Point, Naknek, and three trawlers. Currently he is a Service Technician for Baader.
James has worked on Baader Machinery for over 18 years and worked as a lead in Sand Point and the Seattle Enterprise for over 6 years . Currently he has worked as a Service Technician for Baader for over 3 years and is playing a pivotal role in the development of the Baader 214.
 
Class charge is $4,900/pp not including travel and per diem.  ARC members receive a $300 discount. Kodiak residents receive a Borough funded scholarship of about $1,000 pp.  Register at Alaska Research Consortium. Questions, call Marc Solano at [email protected]
